Further, while on bail I am
denied the only medication that allows me to keep down my AIDS medication—medical
marijuana.
AIDS
doctors become concerned when the viral load—the measure of active AIDS virus
in the body—tops 10,000.
For two years prior to my 1998
arrest, I was able to keep my nausea-producing AIDS medication down with medical marijuana. My
viral load was "undetectable."
It is now over 250,000
and rising.
When my viral load reached 12,500 in 1996, I
developed an AIDS-related cancer (non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma).
