When
a Future President Apologizes for the War on Drugs
        President
Clinton today offered a long-overdue six-sentence apology to the former
World War II Japanese internees "on behalf of all Americans."
Some future president can dust off Clintons apology and read it
to all the tens of millions damaged by the War on Drugs.
         "We
recognize the wrongs of the past and offer our profound regret to those
who endured such grave injustice. We understand that our nation's actions
were rooted in racial prejudice and wartime hysteria, and we must learn
from the past and dedicate ourselves as a nation to renewing and strengthening
          equality, justice and freedom."
