Change Will Only Come If We're Willing To Ask For It

Since a new round of voting on Change.org http://www.change.org/ideas began last Monday, guess which Idea has received the most votes? You guessed it: "Legalize the Medicinal and Recreational Use of Marijuana" in the Criminal Justice category with a current 3,876 votes. Change.org states that "From January - February 2010, more than 2,500 ideas were submitted and voted on by 100,000 people across the country. The top three rated ideas from each issue category, listed below, qualified for the final round.Final round voting begins on March 1 and ends on March 12. The 10 most popular ideas will be presented to relevant members of the Obama Administration, and Change.org will subsequently mobilize its full community to support a series of grassroots campaigns to help turn each idea into reality." The question is: what happens if the "marijuana" question wins? Will Change.org fulfill this promise and present this idea "to relevant members of the Obama Administration" and will it "mobilize its full community to support a series of grassroots campaigns to help turn each idea into reality"? You might recall that DrugSense submitted an Open Letter to Change.org on February 5, asking them to "Please accurately report and implement the results for the 2010 Ideas for Change in America." While the vote count has been taken down, that Idea can still be found here: http://drugsense.org/url/NgppFWQ4. Please take a few moments of your time to again cast your vote for marijuana reform at Change.org. Here's the URL: http://www.change.org/ideas. To vote, you'll need to register. We have until Friday March 12 to really put marijuana over the top; help us to make it finish as an overwhelming #1! |
