Subject: Help US Reform Drug Policy!

Dear friends, colleagues and supporters,

In 2005, Americans witnessed great local successes and horrible federal abuses regarding progressive changes to our nation's drug policies. In Denver, we saw a group of young activists armed with little more than common sense, commitment, and compassion almost single-handedly turn cannabis prohibition on its head. SAFER (Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation) introduced a ballot initiative that made personal possession of one ounce or less of marijuana a non-punishable offense within the city, and in November, 54% of Denver voters passed this measure.

Sadly, renewed DEA raids on California compassion clubs dampened this incredible victory. In mid-December, DEA agents staged the most extensive series of raids since California approved medical cannabis in 1996, closing 13 San Diego County dispensaries in a single day.

This year, DrugSense/MAP will work hard to ensure that SAFER's success in Denver translates into a similar ballot victory for all of Colorado, and we will do all that we can to prevent the federal abuse of state- supported medical cannabis laws like California's Prop. 215. To do this, WE NEED YOUR HELP RIGHT NOW!!

Your support (www.DrugSense.org/donate) gets out the word about sensible drug policies and puts the media on our side. It helps us continue to instruct local and national activists on effective media strategies through our Media Activism Facilitator Project ( www.mapinc.org/resource/), and it enables them to track and share successful drug policy reform measures through our new Community Audits and Initiatives Project (www.drugsense.org/CAIP). But none of this will happen without your financial support.

The good news is that you can make a double difference. I'm pleased to announce that a long time DrugSense funder has generously offered to match your donation, in whatever amount, for a limited time. This matching funds grant means that anything you contribute to DrugSense and the Media Awareness Project will be matched, thus doubling the effective amount of your contribution.

Secure donations by credit card or PayPal account can be made at www.DrugSense.org/donate.

Checks should be made payable to DrugSense and mailed to:

Help DrugSense fight the continued abuse of our civil liberties and personal freedoms. Together we can put an end to this failed war on drugs.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mark Greer,
