Welcome to the AMMA Home Page.

This web site provides resources for our organization, The American Medical Marijuana Assoc., conceived and incorporated in cyberspace on 10/26/99.

Our current project is to take whatever actions necessary to force elected officials to uphold the law and start implementing Prop. 215 and other state med-pot laws.

We believe that this can best be done by adopting the Oakland Guidelines statewide. Michele, Brooke and Steve Kubby with Anna Boyce R.N., (co-author  of   Prop. 215) after presenting AMMA's Petition for Redress of  Grievances to the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Our newly formed local county chapters will ask their local city and county elected officials to take clearly defined and specific actions to protect the medical rights of seriously ill patients.  There's plenty of room for everyone, so feel free to join in. Together we can create a statewide campaign to help local officials understand that sick, disabled and dying patients have become the latest victims in a power struggle over drug policy.

With your help, we can make the entire month of November an educational and political experience that will finally allow for the implementation of the Compassionate Use Act.

Let freedom grow,

Steve Kubby

"Since Prop. 215's passage, enforcement has largely been left to local sheriffs and district attorneys, with mixed results. While medical marijuana enjoys strong official support in San Francisco, Oakland, Arcata, Marin, Mendocino, and elsewhere, in some places most notoriously in Placer County local law enforcement officials have adopted a hard-line, throw-'em-all-in-jail approach similar to that of the federal government, which refuses to acknowledge that pot has any medical use despite mountains of evidence to the contrary."
